Since Jung introduced personality to industry, it has been used in all manner of areas. You may have come across psychometric testing when job hunting in the form of a job test, or perhaps on a training course.

Psychometric Test and Personality Test . What's the difference?
Let me clear this question up for you before you go any further. Strictly speaking psychometric testing covers more than just personality. It also includes numeracy and literacy. However most people tend to use the words psychometric test and job test interchangeably and usually they are referring to personality testing.

There's a reason employers spend money on Personality Testing
So why do employers spend millions every year of personality testing?

Well quite simply because it makes them more money. You see they discovered that personality is extremely important. It determines the performance of an individual in a specific environment. Employers discovered long ago that some people work better in some environments better than others.


So it impacts on performance, which impacts on productivity and quality, which translates into money. Companies want to make more money so they invest in understanding the personality of the people they hire and ensure they are in environments that suit them.

It's a smart move and the ones that do it well make more money.
A Job Test works both ways
Many people can't see past, "passing the test". If that's where you are at then this article isn't really for you. You see there are two problems with this approach.

1) It's not a test. You cannot fail a personality test.

2) You can't change your personality or successfully cheat the test (because it's not a test)

If for some strange reason you falsified your answers and got a job offer, where the employer thought you were one type of personality and in fact you are something very different then you have won nothing. you have probably landed a job that is completely unsuitable for you.

Do you want to work in an environment that will stress you and drive you nuts? Would you not rather work in an environment that suited your personality?


I urge you to take a job test for yourself and head the results. it will tell you which jobs you should consider and which you should avoid. Don't leave it up to the employer to make this decision. Make sure you know what's right for you. It cuts both ways.

if employers make more money because they understand your personality then you should be able to do the same.
